The role
Medical Solicitors is a dedicated clinical negligence law firm based in Sheffield, Hull and York. We have an outstanding team of Solicitors/Chartered Legal Executives who are renowned for their expertise in Clinical Negligence.
We deal with very high-quality Clinical Negligence cases and have grown steadily, and securely, over the past 15 years, hence a Head Office in Sheffield and branch offices. As a result of our success, we are now looking for an experienced clinical negligence Grade D/C Litigation Assistant or a newly qualified Grade C Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive with experience of working in a friendly environment, supporting others on their quality caseloads, to join our York team.

We are a growing team, expanding across the region with offices in Sheffield, York and Hull.
You’ll be joining Caroline Moore; Managing Director, who won Partner of Year at the 2020 Legal Awards, specialising in Clinical Negligence claims and her Medical Negligence Team, who were team of the year in 2023. All of the team is passionate about ensuring those individuals who have suffered life-changing injuries, through no fault of their own, receive the compensation they deserve in order to lead a more independent life.
Your role
You’ll join us as a experienced Litigation Assistant or a Newly Qualified Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive, providing full assistance to our team of senior fee-earners in York supporting them in the progression of their clinical negligence caseloads.
Your role will involve but is not limited to:
- Communicating with fee earners and clients to keep all parties up to date on developments in the case.
- Working on Proof of Evidence documents.
- Drafting instructions to experts.
- Assisting with first draft pre-action protocol letters.
- Assisting with/Preparing Schedules of Loss.
- Producing first draft instructions for Counsel.
- Drafting Claim forms and using the online issuing and filing portals.
- When sufficiently progressed, taking on a small caseload, to be built up over time, with full supervision and support.
- Other ad hoc duties as requested by the Fee Earner/Director.
What are we looking for from you?
- You will be an experienced Grade D/C Litigation Assistant or a newly qualified Grade C Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive, with experience of working in clinical negligence or personal injury.
- A commitment to ensuring you are doing everything that you can to provide the upmost level of support to your clients.
- Pro-active approach to your own tasks set and supporting others – take a forward-thinking approach in everything you do.
- You should be a team player.
- You will have excellent attention to detail.
