Medical Solicitors is delighted to announce the appointment of senior solicitor, Robert Clarke, who joins our Sheffield office.
Robert brings with him over 25 years’ experience in personal injury and clinical negligence litigation having worked at law firms across South Yorkshire.
Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2002, Robert has built a reputation for claimant-focused advocacy and a willingness to take on complex and challenging cases. His specialist interests include Cauda Equina syndrome cases and delayed diagnosis of conditions such as necrotising fasciitis, bowel obstructions and aortic dissection.
Robert’s decision to specialise in personal injury and medical negligence was influenced at a young age after witnessing his father suffer a life-changing accident that had a profound impact on both his career and family life. That experience instilled a strong sense of justice and a determination to support people whose lives are altered through injury or medical error.
Reflecting on his move to Medical Solicitors, Robert says he was drawn by our firm’s ethos and empathetic approach to client care which closely mirrors his own moral compass.
“Client satisfaction has to be the driving force behind our work as medical negligence solicitors. We often find that when the legal duty of candour is not complied with, it adds fuel to the fire as patients don’t get the full, frank openness they require.
“For many claimants, the responsible party putting their hands up and taking accountability is more valuable than any settlement amount that follows and goes a long way to them having closure on the incident.”
Before joining Medical Solicitors, Robert spent almost ten years at a Doncaster-based law firm where he was instrumental in establishing and developing clinical negligence case work.
One of his career highlights was successfully taking a workplace injury claim to the Court of Appeal to challenge a security for costs order made against the claimant that would have stifled them seeking justice. As well as marking a significant outcome for the client, the appeal reinforced important principles around access to justice for injured individuals.
Medical Solicitor’ director, Caroline Moore, says Robert’s arrival strengthens her firm’s commitment to compassionate, high-quality representation for its clients who have suffered substandard healthcare in England and Wales.
“Robert’s extensive experience, strong track record and client-centred approach make him a valuable addition to the team. He shares our belief that clients deserve not only legal expertise but understanding and support at some of the most difficult moments of their lives.”
