What with 25% of all NHS on sick leave at any one time a not so small fortune is spent on agency staff. NHS staff are paid whilst on sick.
Thank goodness there is now to be a cap on this spend to stop the NHS being ripped off by agency staff charges. This is clearly eating a sizeable chuck into the NHS budget.
A little known fact, courtesy of Medical Solicitors, is that some NHS staff also do agency work on the side in order to supplement their NHS wages. You cannot blame them at all, but the excessive charges from agencies has to stop!
