Student nurses could start their careers over £50,000 in debt under new government plans revealed in the Autumn Chancellor’s statement to convert training bursaries into repayable loans.

A mass protest is planned to take place in the New Year, 9 January.

At Medical Solicitors we think these changes could put prospective students off pursuing a career in nursing. In addition, presently some degree students decide to pursue nursing as a second degree, via  a change in career plan. There is bound to be a negative impact.

Healthcare needs more nurses, not to put off students thinking about entering the profession.
